![]() The hotel is beside one of the 10 most stunning beaches in the world. The Barceló Bávaro Palace***** (5-star) hotel is one of the top luxury hotels in Punta Cana, designed specifically for people who love constant sunshine, the gentle sound of the Caribbean breeze whispering in the palm trees, and beautiful crystal-clear waters with a coral reef. At one point while we were relaxing the little boy at the table next to us loudly informed his mom to the fact, "Did you see that lady? She touched that other lady's boobies, mommy." So, if you have kids be prepared to talk to them afterward about the perils of intoxication. Why is your experience so unique in the sheer paradise of the Dominican Republic? Not really a G-rated scene because between SF and C&C they were doing $1 shots in return for the bartender jiggling the boobs of the patrons (before you think "WooHoo!" please remember many of cruise passengers who partake are in thier 60's and 70's). This was our second time to this location and Senor Frogs here is pretty much the same Senor Frogs you find anywhere except for the swim up bar. A great deal if you are used to the expensive cruise prices. We ended up ordering from Carlos and Charlie's across the pool before getting back on our ship (also a chain but the Corona was only $4.50 USD and Sol was $3.50). It's chain, so you don't really get an authentic feel to the food but, it is an easy location to get to if you are on a cruise. I agree with other reviewers who said it was expensive( for what it is). We are going back with the kids in early April I am sure it will be one big PARTY!!!!!! Will also add, in Cozumel, rent a car and get over to Rastas on the other side of the island this was also a great beach day on our trip. Its spacious and very well built and located away from the hustle and bustle. I recommend that all you Frogs fans out there don’t get stuck in the port, get to the beach. ![]() The staff in Frogs always make it fun, we should have shares in the merchandise as we are suckers for Tshirt or two… its become a family joke. We then turned around and headed back to the swim up pool and some pool games. We continued to Nohoch kay were they were fully booked but made us space to stay for the best fish Taco Ive ever had and a quick beer. The 40 canons hotel has enlarged to nearly twice the size but they had someone speaking bad English MCing over the music which we found annoying. The village was much the same as before, a few new small constructions and lots of people offering us Cuban cigars. We stopped for just a drink then carried on into town but we agreed that we would go back for a while on the return. I always understood that beach front restaurants were not allowed swimming pools but somehow they’ve broken the rules! They have a swim up pool, animation, games and all the stuff you would expect from the franchise with prices much lower than the port area. They always treat us like VIPs and make us laugh (and also drunk!), so we were very happy to see them on the board walk outside the port and outside the village. We have been secret Frogs fans for years in Cozumel and Hawai for years. But now, Senor Frogs after opening bars in the port area have invested and extended their interests to the beach. A few steps further and we felt like we were seeing things! Formerly there was just Tequila beach Club which we didn’t ever stop in. We then walked toward town and could see further development but didn’t know what it was. Most people still chose not to walk as we did and get the taxi straight into the middle of town and they are missing out in my opinion, the beaches between town and the cruise ship are quieter and more relaxing without people trying to sell you stuff you don’t need. We stopped for a beer and relaxed on a pleasant but empty beach. First new thing we noticed was about a dozen small cabanas attached to a small but friendly beach club called Blue Bay. We took the taxi to the light house and walked the board walk along the sea front. ![]() As it wasn’t a planned stop, we decided to not book an excursion and just take a walk through town and see what was new. Plus, our next cruise on the Carnival Dream calls Costa Maya to finish off the week. Belize was always a miss match for our tastes and we have loved Costa Maya and studied its growth pre-hurricane Dean and after. We were onboard the Carnival glory which was not scheduled to dock in Costa Maya, when we heard about the change, we were so happy. Next month we will do practically the same itinerary with the kids and this year its Spring Break Woop Woop! We like to check out new stuff each time on the first cruise, see whats changed etc before returning with the family and friends. Earlier this month I was taking the first of two cruises in the Caribbean as we have done for the last three years.
